    Description

This listing is for a primitive antique wooden grain measure. It has a handle and was likely used in the same manner a bucket or basket would have been. It's quite old. I suspect it dates to the late 19th or early 20 century. As mentioned in the title- it's a large piece measuring approx.15 1/2" x 15 1/2". It stands approx. 10" tall. It has seen much use over the years. There is substantial wear. There are plenty of old repairs. Those repairs were made using a variety of materials including wood, wire, metal brackets, paste, nails, etc.. There are splits, chips, worn spots, rub marks, etc. in/on the wood. It has an aged dark finish. The wood is dovetailed. There are hand formed metal braces/reinforcements. There is evidence that a few braces on the bottom were removed long ago (for use in other areas?). That all being said, it's still pretty sturdy. While I wouldn't recommend using it to carry bricks around, it could certainly be used to gather/store flowers, vegetables, and other bounty harvested from a garden. Of course it could always be used in the home for display and/or to hold towels (or a variety of other items).
Please take a close look at the photographs provided. Due to the limited amount of photos eBay allows, I was unable to show closeups of each distressed spot/area. I have honestly tried to accurately represent the overall condition in the photos I did post. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
Shipping will be via USPS. I wish I could do something to bring down the cost but, because of the large size, there is little I can do except offer you the options of Parcel or Priority Mail. Please see shipping details to see which option works best for you.
Thank you for your time...and good luck!
