    Description

Large Nautical Day or Night Telescope by Barry of Cardiff
This spyglass was probably carried on a wooden ship in the mid 1800s and is engraved with the makers mark "Barry, Cardiff, Day or Night." The telescope is in very good good shape for its age (see pics) and the brass maintube has been recovered in a red material that provides an unusual steampunk
look.  There are dark strips on the
    sunshield
that photograph poorly. The draw has only minor bumps and moves reasonably smoothly but the
    sunshield
    can be a bit sticky.
The telescope has good optics and forms a sharp bright image of moderate magnification (12-15X) when focused by moving the smallest tube in and out. Nautical scopes were often made with less magnification than those intended for use on land, as a rocking ship makes high magnification challenging. On the plus side, lower magnification makes the scope easier for novices to use.
This is a large telescope that weighs more than 2 lbs, is almost 21 inches long when folded, almost 38 inches long when extended and has an objective lens is about 1 3/4 inches in diameter. It can be dissembled for cleaning if that should become necessary. Be sure to examine the images as they form an important part of the description.
Although shipping is listed as economy, items will generally be shipped priority if costs are comparable.   I will consider sending the telescope to restricted countries if a buyer seems responsible and assumes shipping risks.
