2.40ct Valuable Multi Color Fire Mexican Contra Luz Precious Opal. Cut from older mined Magdalena, Jalisco rough, only a small percent of Mexican opal display multicolored fire and always valuable and expensive. Attractive frosted whitish base with internal gold hue, then with areas displaying nice flashes of multi color internal fire that is best viewed with a strong direct light source entering stone from behind.
PLEASE NOTE: With the contra luz variety of Mexican opal the internal rainbow colored fire is best viewed in transmitted light ( light entering stone from behind), rather than reflected light
( light shinning on stone from in front) and although with some stones of this variety, rainbow fire may be visible in reflected light, the fire is NOT VISIBLE in ordinary lighting.
This stone will display areas of lighter to nice internal multi colored color play when viewed with strong direct transmitted lighting and is best viewed with light source entering stone from behind, such as from a ray of sunlight or even by holding stone up to an ordinary lamp light and moving stone back and forth. Transparent to frosted, free of crazing, with attractive face up and eye appeal. Custom oval cut over 15 years ago from rough well seasoned and so very stable, stone approx. 11.14 x 9.08 x 5.80mm. Valuable opal variety. Nice ring or collector's stone.
